The NeoContre presented a survey of emerging and established artists working in the field of political art. New photographic work from Belle Budden and Angel Kosch, aerosol work from James Dodd, stills from the infamous Escape from Woomera project, Jenny Fraser's Black Gold, Pauline Pantsdown documentation, Deborah Kelly's work from the Venice Biennale, Tim Plaisted's Teflon John and US agit-artists THINK AGAIN's monograph, A Brief History of Outrage.

The NeoContre was organised by Tim Plaisted for the Straight Out Of Brisbane Festival as a show of political art responding to and against neoconservative (neo-con) policies abroad and their influence here in Australia. It grew into an exhibition partly to question the hesitancy of artists to exhibit political work in the context of an emerging or established practice and is an invititation to artists to get involved.
